The Wilh. Wilhelmsen group (WW) controls more than 130 vessels operating in a global network of trades. The group ranks as the world’s largest operator in the roll-on roll-off cargo segment. Wilh. Wilhelmsen’s ocean transport activities are supported by a variety of advanced shore-based logistics services, offering customers seamless door-to-door supply chain solutions.
The group also occupies a leading position in the global maritime service industry through an unparalleled global network, delivering services to more than 200 shipyards and some 20 000 vessels each year.
The group’s wholly owned subsidiaries employ about 14 000 people. In addition comes a crew pool of more than 8 000 seafarers. The group’s products and services are available through own offices or agents in more than 2 200 ports in 125 countries.
Through the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation, the group established a professorship in research, development and competence communication regarding the maritime industry at the BI Norwegian School of Management in August 2006. The chair, which was rewarded to professor Torger Reve, was renewed for another six years in 2011.
- The co-operation agreement with BI Norwegian School of Management will contribute to creating interest in the development of the maritime industry, as well as interest for the industry’s significant added value in and for society, says Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, former chair of the board of directors at Wilh. Wilhelmsen and chair of the board of directors in the Tom Wilhelmsen Foundation.
